In this episode, the Worst Gen Crew discusses Blood of Zeus! Blood of Zeus is a Netflix original “Anime” made in the US of A. In a previous episode, Anime Cousins Nem, we discuss the importance of US-produced series and the influence that the Anime industry has had on them. Blood of Zeus is a great example of our final thoughts from that episode.
Many Anime influenced series will struggle, going through changes and budget cuts, ultimately affecting finish quality. Decision-makers wait to be sure the market is viable. Until a viable market is guaranteed there will always be budget cutbacks. Series change drastically as they make their way to release and Blood of Zeus, formerly known as Gods & Heros, is no exception.
Charley and Vlas Parlapanides created Blood of Zeus and Powerhouse Animation Studios handled the production. The series released for streaming on October 27, 2020 with Heron at the helm as the main character. For those who have never heard of Heron, you aren’t crazy. The team created Heron exclusively for the series (although he fills a few sandals we’ve read about) and those familiar with Greek Mythology will feel at home in the world surrounding Heron because it hasn’t changed that much from what we know.
Season 1 of the series follows Heron to adulthood and explores his place in the battle between Gods, Giants, and the resulting demons. No Greek tale would be complete without Adultery, murder, revenge, and scandal, which we guarantee all arise within the series.
